Struck on an exceptionally heavy flan of 6.55 g
Lot 3095
Postumus, Romano-Gallic Emperor, 260-269. Antoninianus (Billon, 23 mm, 6.55 g, 7 h), Treveri, mid-late 263. IMP C POSTVMVS P F AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Postumus to right. Rev. PAX AVG Pax advancing left, holding olive branch in her right hand and long scepter in her left. AGK (corr.) 51. Cunetio 2405. Elmer 333. RIC 78. RIC V.4 217. Nicely toned and struck on an exceptionally heavy flan. The reverse struck from a worn die and with thin surface cracks, otherwise, very fine.

From the private collection of the Swiss Archaeologist Philipp Reto Huser (1962-2025), privately acquired in Swiss coin trade over the past 30 years.

The coin’s doubled weight and thick rim indicate that it was likely struck by mistake on two flans stacked together.
